Stutterheim Raincoats is a Swedish luxury outerwear fashion brand founded in Stockholm in 2010. Alexander Stutterheim drew inspiration from the classic fisherman’s raincoat that his grandfather wore in the 1960, when he created the first Stutterheim raincoat. Ever since, the brand’s vision has been to create beautiful yet functional rain- and outerwear in the highest quality. All coats are handmade using the finest craftsmanship and are characterized by simplicity, functionality and timeless design. The theme of melancholy has been present since the inception of the brand, where the idea of creativity being born out of melancholy has been an important base for building the brand that is Stutterheim. As rain has an inherent connection to blue emotions, and with a desire to talk about this sensitive subject, it became important to convey the message that it’s ok to feel down at times and that it’s important to embrace that feeling; that it can be a catalyst for creativity. Accepting the rain can be a start. Today Stutterheim offers two full unisex collections per year, as well as a permanent core collection, all with a steady focus on outerwear. With the hiring of Head Designer Patric Wallertz in 2015, the sight is set on an expanded collection for AW16, offering an even wider range of materials and styles, including bonded cotton and puffer coats in rain-resistant materials. Always open to influences from around the world, Stutterheim has collaborated with Barney’s New York and Jay Z, Dover Street Market, Volvo and Whistles to name a few, with several interdisciplinary collaborations in the pipeline for the future. Stutterheim enjoys a steady fan base of world know artist such as Kanye West, Jay Z and Paloma Faith.
